WA lead the way at 2011 Australian International Beer Awards

Congratulations to all of the West Aussie winners at this week's Australian International Beer Awards in Victoria. Champion Ale to the Swan Valley's Feral Beer with "Hophog", Champion Reduced Alcohol beer to Fremantle's The Monk with "The Monk Mild", Champion Wheat Beer went to Margaret River's Bootleg Brewing with "Sou' West Wheat", and their neighbours, Cowamarup Brewing took out Champion Lager with "Cowaramup Pilsner". To round things off Gage Roads Pils took out the Champion Packaging award.

So from the 17 trophies up for grabs, WA Brewers were far away the most successful exhibiting state, the breakdown is USA- 5; NZ- 1; Belgium- 1; NSW- 1; VIC- 2 (both for the same beer); WA- 5; There was no trophy awarded for 2 of the awards.
For any that have doubted WA continuing to be the leading craft brewers in the country, hopefully the resounding success of exhibitors in this year's comp may help you reassess your opinion!
